Few dining rooms anywhere have a neighbour like the Great Pyramid, and Khufu's makes the most of it without leaning on it.

Set within the Giza Plateau, it opened in 2022 under Pier88 Group founder Giovanni Bolandrini, with chef Mostafa Seif, winner of Top Chef Middle East in 2018, in the kitchen. Seif cooks from memories of rural Egypt, refining village dishes rather than disguising them: koshari turned into a cold salad, mulukhiyah with rabbit, stuffed pigeon, mu'ammar rice. Breakfast arrives as a generous composed platter; lunch centres on a set menu. In February 2026 Khufu's became the first Egyptian restaurant named No.1 at MENA's 50 Best. Service runs by day only; evenings belong to its sister, Khufu's Bistro.

قلّما يجاور مطعمٌ الهرمَ الأكبر كما يفعل «خوفو»، لكنه لا يتّكئ على المشهد وحده. افتُتح داخل هضبة الجيزة عام 2022 بمبادرة من جيوفاني بولاندريني مؤسس مجموعة Pier88، ويقود مطبخه الشيف مصطفى سيف الفائز بلقب «توب شيف الشرق الأوسط» عام 2018. يستلهم سيف مطبخ الريف المصري الذي نشأ عليه، فيصقل أطباق القرية دون أن يطمس ملامحها: كشري يُقدَّم سلطةً باردة، وملوخية بالأرانب، وحمام محشي، وأرز معمّر. يأتي الإفطار طبقًا متكاملًا سخيًا، ويقوم الغداء على قائمة محددة. في فبراير 2026 صار «خوفو» أول مطعم مصري يتصدّر قائمة أفضل 50 مطعمًا في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا. يعمل المطعم نهارًا فقط، ويترك المساء لشقيقه «بيسترو خوفو».

What to order

  • Start the day with the Khufu's Breakfast Platter: fava beans, falafel, eggs, smoked aubergine, cottage cheese and house marmalade.
  • At lunch the set menu (from EGP 1,950 plus tax and service) is the best way into Mostafa Seif's cooking.
  • Look for the koshari reworked as a cold salad with quail eggs and crisp chickpeas, mu'ammar rice, and mulukhiyah with rabbit.
  • Daytime only: open 9am to 4pm, with last orders strictly at 3pm.
  • Book ahead; walk-ins are accepted but the dining room is often full.

Good to know

  • The restaurant is inside the archaeological site: buy a Giza Plateau entry ticket at the Visitor Center, ideally online in advance via egymonuments.com.
  • Arrive through the visitor entrance and allow extra time for security and entry procedures.
  • No formal dress code, but modest, respectful clothing is requested given the setting.
  • Children are welcome under supervision; vegetarian dishes are available, but the kitchen cannot cook without garlic or onion.
